Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 8 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil, flour and chili powder together in a large pot. Cook for a minute or two.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a slow simmer.
  3. Stir well to combine and dissolve tomato paste in water.
  4. Cook for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add more spices as desired.
