Dahl

Ingredients


  • 1½ c. lentil or split peas
  • 4 c. water
  • 2 dried chiles, whole
  • ¼ t. turmeric
  • ½ t. salt
  • 2 T. vegetable oil
  • ½ t. cumin seed
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 t. grated ginger
  • 1 T. lemon juice
  • 1 t. garam masala

Instructions


  1. Cook rice
  2. Mix spices in bowl
  3. Heat oil, cook spices a couple minutes
  4. Add ginger & onion, cook until transparent.
  5. Add water & lentils. Heat to boil.
  6. Cook over low/med (adding water as needed) until lentils cooked through.
  7. Add lemon juice
