Ingredients
- 1½ c. lentil or split peas
- 4 c. water
- 2 dried chiles, whole
- ¼ t. turmeric
- ½ t. salt
- 2 T. vegetable oil
- ½ t. cumin seed
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1 t. grated ginger
- 1 T. lemon juice
- 1 t. garam masala
Instructions
- Cook rice
- Mix spices in bowl
- Heat oil, cook spices a couple minutes
- Add ginger & onion, cook until transparent.
- Add water & lentils. Heat to boil.
- Cook over low/med (adding water as needed) until lentils cooked through.
- Add lemon juice
